The 2025 VIBI Awards Delivered a Night to Remember
On May 30, 2025, Vancouver Island’s building and development industry didn’t just gather to celebrate excellence — it stepped onto the red carpet.
The 2025 Vancouver Island Building Industry (VIBI) Awards transformed the Royal BC Museum and IMAX Theatre into a cinematic tribute to the people and projects shaping our region’s future.
This wasn’t your typical awards gala.
This was a premiere.
A Red Carpet Welcome
The evening began inside the Royal BC Museum with a champagne reception worthy of a film launch.
Guests arrived to flashing cameras, elegant canapés, and a stunning centerpiece: John Lennon’s iconic Rolls-Royce, displayed in the heart of the room. The bold, colourful vehicle set the tone for a celebration that embraced creativity, artistry, and larger-than-life vision — much like the projects being honoured.
Builders, developers, trades, designers, engineers, and industry partners mingled beneath museum exhibits, reconnecting, networking, and celebrating the collective strength of Vancouver Island’s construction community.
The Big Screen Moment
From there, attendees moved into the IMAX Theatre, where the awards presentation truly leaned into the movie theme.
Cinematic visuals. Dramatic reveals. Larger-than-life project showcases.
Each category was presented as though unveiling a blockbuster — because in many ways, these projects are exactly that.
They represent years of planning, collaboration, risk, innovation, and craftsmanship.
They shape neighbourhoods.
They strengthen communities.
They define skylines.
And on the IMAX screen, they received the spotlight they deserved.
Celebrating the Industry’s Best
The VIBI Awards once again brought together three leading organizations: Urban Development Institute – Capital Region (UDI-CR) Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Vancouver Island (CHBAVI)Vancouver Island Construction Association (VICA)
Together, the awards recognize excellence across:
- Residential construction
- Renovations and custom homes
- Multi-family and mixed-use developments
- Commercial, industrial, and institutional builds
- Civil and infrastructure projects
From high-performance homes and innovative infill developments to large-scale institutional projects and industrial achievements, the 2025 finalists and winners showcased the depth of talent on Vancouver Island.
The evening was a powerful reminder: our industry doesn’t just build structures, it builds legacy.
A Reimagined Format for a Bold Industry
The 2025 event was intentionally different.
The red carpet reception.
The museum setting.
The IMAX theatre presentation.
The cinematic theme.
Every detail reflected the boldness and creativity of our sector.
Construction is often associated with hard hats and job sites, and rightly so. But behind every project is design excellence, problem-solving, artistry, and vision.
The VIBI Awards gave those qualities a stage as dramatic as the work itself.

More Than an Awards Show
Beyond the trophies and applause, the VIBI Awards represent something bigger:
- A unified industry across sectors
- A shared commitment to innovation
- A celebration of craftsmanship
- A culture of collaboration
In a time when housing demand, infrastructure investment, and sustainability expectations continue to rise, it’s important to pause and recognize the individuals and companies who are meeting those challenges head-on.
The energy in the room made one thing clear: Vancouver Island’s building industry is not standing still.
It is evolving.
It is leading.
It is inspiring.
An Unforgettable Night
From champagne under museum lights to cinematic project showcases on the IMAX screen, the 2025 VIBI Awards delivered an unforgettable celebration of excellence.
If this year’s event proved anything, it’s that our industry deserves a spotlight, and when given one, it shines.
We build homes.
We build communities.
And on May 30, 2025 — we built a premiere worthy of the big screen.
